Glands

Glands

An organ that makes one or more substances, such as hormones, digestive juices, sweat, tears, saliva, or milk. There are two types of glands: endocrine and exocrine glands.

Exocrine glands secrete their substances through ducts into the body’s surfaces. Exocrine glands regulate body temperature and also help digestion and reproduction.

Endocrine glands secrete their substances directly into bloodstreams. Endocrine glands control emotions and sleep.
