Periodic classification
Periodic classification of elements is the method by which elements are grouped on the basis of their characteristics. A periodic classification table was prepared by arranging elements in the increasing order of their atomic number. The physical and chemical properties of elements depend on the number of protons and electrons present in those elements. In the periodic table, horizontal rows are called periods, and the vertical columns are called groups. There are 7 periods and 18 groups in the periodic table.
